‘Content is king’ is a phrase that’s much used in the field of SEO (search engine optimisation), and ‘SERPS’ (search engine results positions), and largely because it remains a truism. It’s always worth reviewing one’s core content and keep a focus on helpful, pertinent and interesting copy writing; and if it’s genuinely helpful to humans, it’s going to be sensibly parsed and favoured by Google.
We were pleased to complete an initial organic SEO exercise for The Haslemere Clinic this month. Phase 1 is now complete and has been successful at getting the site well and truly on Google’s radar. We have achieved ranking improvements for all the target terms (All 35 of them!).
Importantly, the business now has seven new ‘Google page 1’ results positions for search terms that previously had no ranking at all. Included in this figure are two phrases that now enjoy top of Google status (positions 1 or 2).
New copy isn’t the full story of course – accessibility, mobile friendly behaviours, load times, well structured page code and sensible headings are also in the mix for SEO essentials.
The full (pretty self explanatory) mantra goes something like this: ‘Content is king’, ‘links are queen’ and ‘be social’- because ‘the conversation’ and ‘engagement’ are SEO royalty too!
